A manhunt is under way for a man who is potentially armed and may be suffering a “significant injury” after an incident in Perth’s outer northeastern suburbs.

Police were called to a disturbance about 9.30am on Wednesday after reports of a man and woman fighting at a property along Hodnet Bend in The Vines.

Local police, the police air wing and the Tactical Response Group (TRG) were sent to the area, after initial reports suggesting the man was armed with a gun.

Officers found the woman inside the home. A WA Police spokesperson said her “welfare had been accounted for” but it was unclear if she had been injured.

The man has since been identified as 28-year-old Blake Unkovich, who may be armed, but is also believed to have suffered an injury to his hand or arm.

The police spokesperson said he may be travelling on foot or on a bicycle.

“If sighted, members of the public are advised not to approach Mr Unkovich but to call Police immediately on 131 444,” the spokesperson said.

The incident lead to a search warrant being executed on a property believed to belong to his mother, but nothing “significant” was found.

“The man left the premises with what we believe to be a firearm,” police inspector Geoff DeSanges told reporters on Wednesday afternoon.

Mr Unkovich is described as being about 178cm tall, of a medium build, with brown hair, and green eyes.

Information can also be passed on to police anonymously through Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000, or by filling out a report online.
