Renata Kuerten is a Brazilian model and television presenter. She was born in Braço do Norte, Santa Catarina, the daughter of Lorena Schlickmann and Nilton Wessler Kuerten. Her German antecedents arrived in Brazil four generations ago, making Renata a fifth-generation German Brazilian. Her father is pictured here. Her mother is pictured here.

Renata’s paternal grandfather is Wilibolt/Willibald/Vilibaldo Kuerten (the son of Jorge Frederico Kuerten and Crescencia Soethe/Söthe). Wilibolt was born in Santa Catarina, to parents who were also born there. Through this line, Renata is a third cousin of retired number 1 Tennis player Gustavo Kuerten. Renata’s paternal great-great-grandfather Friedrich “Frederico” Kuerten/Kürten, who was born, c. 1854, in Germany, was also Gustavo’s paternal great-great-grandfather. Friedrich had children with two German women: Maria Anna Schierhoff (born c. 1854) and Maria Franziska Lembeck (born c. 1860). Sources differ as to which was Renata’s great-great-grandmother. Renata’s great-grandmother Crescencia was the daughter of Heinrich “Henrique” Soethe/Söthe, who was German, and of Maria Catharina Niehues, whose parents were also German.

Renata’s paternal grandmother was Ana Wessler (the daughter of João Wessler and Agatha Rohden). Ana was born in Santa Catarina. João was born in Santa Catarina, the son of Henrique Wessler and Anna Dimon/Dimons. Agatha was born in Santa Catarina, the daughter of Johannes “João” Rohden Sobrinho, whose grandparents were all from Germany, and of Anna Elisabeth Locks, whose parents were also German.

Renata’s maternal grandfather was Hartelau/Artelau Schlickmann (the son of August Schlickmann and Deolinda Ana de Jesus). Hartelau was born in Santa Catarina. August was born in Santa Catarina, the son of Bernard Schlickmann, whose parents were German, and of Maria Catharina Niehues, whose parents were also German. Deolinda was born in Santa Catarina, the daughter of Ricardo Manoel Cachoeira and Anna Maria Perpétua.

Renata’s maternal grandmother was Ana Lembeck (the daughter of Geraldo Lembeck and Helena Nürenberg). Ana was born in Santa Catarina. Geraldo was born in Santa Catarina, to German parents, Heinrich “Henrique” Lembeck and Gertrud “Gertrude” Schulz. Helena was born in Santa Catarina, the daughter of Johann Gerhard “João” Nürenberg, whose parents were German, and of Margaretha “Margarida” Winter Philippi, whose grandparents were all from Germany.
