With the winter months approaching us there is one film that we can definitely look forward to. Universal Pictures have just released the official trailer for Queen and Slim. Scheduled to be released in November 2019, this romantic thriller is a film we cannot wait to see on the big screen. Directed by Melina Matsoukas, the story was written by James Frey with the screenplay by Lena Waithe.

The film battles love, racism and violence, set in Ohio, Queen and Slims first date which goes drastically wrong getting pulled over by the police for traffic violation. The situation escalates but ends badly with the policeman being shot and the couple are now being headlined as police killers. All they want is to runaway; evading the law. Until the video of the situation goes viral and the couple become a representation of grief and sadness all across the country.

This film stars Daniel Kaluuya (plays Slim) was been nominated for the Academy Award, Golden Globe Award, Screen Actors Guild Award and BAFTA Award for Best Actor for his leading role as Chris Washington in the 2017 horror film ‘Get Out’. In 2018, he won the BAFTA Rising Star Award and Jodie Turner-Smith (plays Queen) has a Jamaican background but is a British Model with her first television series being the 2017-2018 series of ‘The Last Ship’, we are excited for her first feature film role. ‘Queen & Slim’ have been compared to other love thrillers like ‘Bonnie and Clyde’ and ‘Thelma & Louise’.
