She is also the survivor of 1983 adrift in the Pacific Ocean. Her real-life ordeal was depicted in the 2018 film, Adrift.
In September 1983, the 23-year-old Tami and her then-fiance, Richard Sharp set to a sea for a 31-day crossing from Tahiti to San Diego to deliver a luxury yacht, Hazana. Little did they know, a category 4 hurricane hit, and tragically her fiance lost his life due to the storm.
