Granger Smith’s wife, Amber Smith, shared an emotional, social media message where she reflected on life without their 3-year-old son.
River Kelly Smith died in a tragic drowning accident a couple of weeks ago at the family’s home in, Georgetown, Texas. Now, as the Smith clam attempts to resume daily life without little River, Amber is getting candid about the difficult period the family is enduring.
The Instagram post featured a photo of Amy and Granger’s 7-year-old daughter London, and 5-year-old son, Lincoln on a family trip to Field Museum in Chicago. It was a trip the Smith’s took in honor of River.
“This dinosaur was discovered in FAITH, South Dakota by a woman named Sue. And he died by a River. Open your eyes, and you will see signs all around you. We think just maybe, Riv is having the best time of his life in Heaven with this,” Amber captioned the picture.
Granger and Amber are working hard to find a resemblance of a “normal life” for the sake of their children, the transition is emotional and taking a toll on the devastated mother.
“Getting back on the road and back into daily life without River has not been easy in the slightest,” she wrote. “Every single thing reminds me of him, and all I can think about is how he would love exploring and seeing all that we are seeing. I see his name everywhere, I see little red-headed toddlers everywhere,” she professed.
The lengthy message also went on to talk about how Amber still sees her little boy and the struggle to do what is best for Lincoln and London.
“I miss his silly personality and his bright light. I see his face in our other kiddos. I have this pit in my stomach constantly, because I’m trying to make life as normal as possible for our other 2 incredible kiddos, London and Lincoln, while hurting so bad inside. I look around at everyone else and wonder if anyone is going through something like we are,” Amber explained.

Her message was not all about remembering her precious son, River. The post also expressed how Amber and Granger’s perspective on life has changed since they lost their youngest child.
“Dumb little things don’t matter anymore. My family does. My faith does. We’ve got this, because God’s got us. Thank you all for your continued support, prayers, and love. It really does help us so much,” she ended her heartbreaking message.
